Your questions about the apartments

  • 1. What is meant by 4+2?
    It means that there are two separate bedrooms but two more people can be put up in the living room.
  • 2. I take my pet on holiday with me with the Casa&barca project?
    Pets are welcome both in the apartment and on the boat, provided they are used to staying on board, at no extra charge.
  • 3. What about children?
    Children under 4 are not considered in the number of guests, so that an apartment 4+2 will actually accommodate 8 people, if two are children under 4.
  • 4. How are the kitchens equipped?
    The equipment includes an oven, a fridge and a washing machine in addition to the standard furniture, the cooking utensils, the crokery and the cutlery.
  • 5. What about the bedrooms?
    The bedrooms are furnished with a wardrobe, two beds which can be used as single beds or a double one and two night tables.
  • 6. Is the parking lot close to the house?
    Yes, it’s just next to the building; the access is by a private street.
  • 7. How can I move around the island if I don’t take my car?
    We will provide daily transportation from the lodgings to the boats and back and to a beach to be chosen. Otherwise you can use the bicycles at your disposal . Moreover there’s an efficient system of public transport to and from the main beaches of La Maddalena and Caprera on a regular schedule. Renting scooters or quads is also possible.
  • 8. Is there an info point?
    Our staff on the spot will do their best to help you with all your queries and direct you to the right places or persons, should they be unable to answer all your questions.
  • 9. Is there a bank in the immediate vicinity?
    The banks are all situated in the town centre, less than 10 minutes’walk away.
  • 10. Are the apartments air-conditioned?
    No, but they are not really hot, thanks to the exposure on two sides creating good ventilation.
  • 11. Is access to the internet possible?
    On the island there are several internet points; wireless system will be provided for the apartments.
  • 12. Is the water drinkable?
    Unfortunately the water is not considered drinkable in the whole island, but you can have mineral water delivered to your domicile.
  • 13. How often will the linen be changed?
    For stays of up to a week it will be delivered on arrival and collected on departure; for longer stays there will be a change of linen and a cleaning at the end of each week.
  • 14. Is it possible to have domestic help during the stay?
    Our staff will be happy to contact cleaners or baby-sitters for you. Of course these additional services will be charged as extras.

 

Your questions about the boats

  • 1. Do I need a licence to manage the 30été?
    No, you don’t. However on the first day you will have to sail with the whole fleet; then individual sailing will have to be authorized, otherwise the boats will sail together for the whole period, with the assistance of our staff and the support raft. If you choose the package with skipper you will be free to move as you wish for the whole stay.
  • 2. If I hire a skipper, am I free to choose my daily destination?
    Yes, if you hire a skipper you are free to leave the harbour at any time you wish and to go wherever you choose.
  • 3. Which is more fun, fleet or individual sailing?
    Fleet sailing, no doubt, because of the conviviality it creates and the competitive spirit it arouses; as the boats are all alike, a racing game is likely to ensue every day,. At the end of the week a regatta will be organized with the participants.
  • 4. What time do the boats sail off in the morning?
    This will be the skipper’s decision, if you have one, in accordance with the crew; for the fleet the schedule will be decided by the crews.
  • 5. How many people are allowed on a 30été?
    Six passengers plus the skipper if this is the case.
  • 6. What are the facilities and the equipment on board?
    All 30étés are equipped with:
    - furling jib
    - lazy bag
    - electric capstan
    - awning
    - fridge
    - cushions both for inside and outside
    - autopilot
    - VHF radio
    - complete safety equipment both for adults and children
    - stereo with external loudspeakers and i-pod connection
    - charts of the area
  • 7. How is the boat rigged?
    The boats will be rigged with self-tacking jib and main sail.
  • 8. What kind of assistance will be provided?
    The building shipyard will take care of every detail, in fact there will always be someone responsible for the rigging and someone responsible for the engine, with the assistance van and the support raft, so it will be possible to solve most problems that may arise.
  • 9. Are the boats insured?
    The boats are all covered by Kasco insurance with a 1.500,00 euro exemption. Such amount will have to be deposited cash or by check before you embark and it will be returned at the end of the hire period, unless there are damages to be refunded. If you wish you can pay 200,00 euros to have full coverage insurance.
  • 10. What if I have a major damage?
    The objective of our assistance is to avoid any kind of damages . In case of accidents the matter will be taken care of on the spot: if the damage was not caused by the customer we will offer an alternative solution to allow you to carry on with your sailing holiday. If it was the customer’s responsibility we will replace the boat only if available; if not, the holiday will continue only with the lodging.
  • 11. Will the sailing activity be limited to the daytime?
    As a rule, that’s the plan, as the islands are at a maximum distance of 8 miles. However we can consider spending a night at anchor if there are requests to that purpose and the weather conditions permit it.
  • 12. How do I get to La Maddalena?
    It is a 45 minutes’drive from Olbia port or airport to Palau, from where a ferry service will take you to La Maddalena in 15 minutes; we have reached an agreement with a private transport company for special prices to be granted to those choosing our packages.On arrival our staff will welcome you and take you to your apartment.
  • 13. How far is it from the apartments to the boats?
    It is about two kilometres from the apartments to the port where the boats are moored.. Free transfers from or to the boats will be scheduled. Those not wanting to go sailing will be taken to one of the beaches, moreover our guests will have a few bicycles at their disposal.
  • 14. Are other activities possible if I shouldn’t feel like sailing?
    The two main islands, Caprera and La Maddalena, which are connected by a bridge, offer quite a few sights on land too: Garibaldi’s house and museum, the many forts, the centre for the observation of dolphins, the cathedral museum, the Teialone peak with its breathtaking views. Our staff will be happy to help you choose your itinerary if you should decide to give up sailing for one day.
  • 15. What about sailing in the waters of the archipelago?
    All the boats will be provided with very detailed charts showing the safe routes to avoid shoals and shallows.
  • 16. What is meant by individual participation?
    It means that singles or couples can also participate; in that case they will have to share the boat and the lodging with other participants.
